This team is worse

Stephenson>Rakell

Chatfield>Ruhwedel

The only real question is will Mrazek be as good as Ned has been to which I say probably.

CHI does not have "an accelerated rebuild now with Bedard." In fact, our actual GM, the players, and most of the fans all disagree with that narrative almost unanimously. The only people who ever suggest it are outsiders and and some media people whose jobs depend on there being excitement around the team they report on.

All of that is to say, no, I highly doubt CHI is paying for anyone, let alone Rakell. And even if they did, he isn't really a player that makes this team competitive. He would just be another veteran presence, and maybe add some leadership if he even has that sort of quality.

If Rakell had a year or two of term left, Hawks might consider it. With 4 years left, that's way too much risk. Hawks pass. And their rebuild hasn't been accelerated at all.

Why hasn’t it? When we got Crosby is changed everything. You’re not that far off. The team is bad because of how many players are injured.

Not that far off? Seriously? The team is bad because the roster, even if healthy, isn't very good. There isn't one forward who has the ability to play w/ Bedard (maybe Hall would have if he didn't get hurt). The Hawks are playing 3 rookies most nights on D. They've drafted a boatload of good looking prospects the past two years, but they need time to develop. Hawks aren't competing for a playoff spot until the 26/27 season at the earliest.

And as memory serves, the Pens drafted Malkin #2 overall the year before Sid, and Staal at #2 overall the year after Sid. So 3 consecutive top 2 picks. That's why the Pens turned it around so quick. The Hawks have had one top pick (Bedard). Big difference. Maybe if the Hawks luck out and get Celebrini this year, then maybe things speed up.

Very true, I should have said getting Celebrini also speed it up. I think your roster is better than you’re giving it credit for. Hall for sure is good enough to play with Bedard. Also, the who can on with him debate will be an ongoing one. We were having that debate here for almost a decade with 87.
