Based on our upcoming cap structure, the Canes would be a lot more likely to target Chychrun than Chabot. But maybe

This is probably a stupid question, but why would the Canes spend another 8mil on another LHD? They already have Orlov for next year, and Slavin will be up in that range for his next deal. Not to mention Nikishin could potentially end up in that range as well. A much more likely target would be Zub, with Chychrun being a close second.

Flyers Say No. Taking Korpi doesnt do anything for them, nor does Boucher, I think the flyers would rather sign him at your FA price than give Korpi 4m with a MNTC

Neither Orlov nor Slavvin are offensive D-men, Chabot is. And the Canes might decide to acquire Chabot then trade Orlov somewhere else.

Zub is untouchable.

And that is why the Canes have structured their cap and dcore the way they have, in preparation for Nikishin and Morrow. They still have Burns for next year, and depending on the moves that get made, they might still have Skjei (unlikely). They have made it to where they don’t have to commit 8mil to a guy like Chabot, and it’s just another reason as to why they didn’t go after Karlsson.

If they trade Orlov its effectively money in/money out.
