Trades

EDM
  1. Kähkönen, Kaapo ($1,375,000 retained)
Additional Details:
oilers get rid of campbell at a bit of a cost but get a solid 1b in kahkonen whos got a 3.9 GSAX on one of the worst teams assembled. skinner has been fantastic in this recent run but its obviously a great idea to give him some support in case of injury or a fall off
SJS
  1. Bourgault, Xavier
  2. Campbell, Jack
  3. 2024 1st round pick (EDM)
  4. 2026 3rd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Could add another pick or prospect. Sj the only team i can think of that is willing to suck for the next 3 years so taking campbell and getting assets for him is a good way to use their cap space. by the time sj is competitive again campbells contract will be done or 1 year left
2.
EDM
  1. Tanev, Christopher ($2,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
I know its strange for rivals to trade but the oilers desperately need a upgrade on ceci. i think tanev is exactly what the oilers are missing as hes one of the top defensive dmen in the nhl. they could probably do this trade for a second but they pay the rival tax with a first
CGY
  1. Broberg, Philip
  2. Ceci, Cody
  3. 2025 1st round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
realistically the flames are a mid team and dont have a lot going for them. i think they should try to get rid of their assets and get young players and picks in return. if they trade correctly they could come back in 2-3 years with a younger much better team after a short rebuild/retool. tanev is a expiring contract and this is a great return for them considering tanev most likely doesnt return to the flames next year
3.
EDM
  1. Bogosian, Zach
  2. Maroon, Patrick
Additional Details:
2 depth pickups similar to perry in that they have playoff experience and are big boys u can put in your lineup when needed
MIN
  1. 2024 5th round pick (EDM)
  2. 2025 4th round pick (EDM)

Make it a 2024 1st in the Flames deal

Edmonton is just going to buy out Campbell this summer. There is logic to them acquiring a goalie to play back up like Kahkonen but paying a 1st and a solid prospect to do that is crazy

I think the Sharks take that deal.

Sharks would take that and run. Slight adjustment required to make it more fair. Take out the 3rd round pick. Kahkonnen is an okay target for backup duties though, but keep in mind he’s a rental UFA.

Tanev is always injured. That’s a lot of risk to trade so much for him. Great player though, but if he gets injured like usual say bye bye to your playoffs run along with all those assets sent out to get him. I’d avoid.

Sure on Bogosian and Maroon.

Good trade ideas by the way. These are in the right direction for what the oilers need.

If they buyout campbell (1.1 million nwxt year then 2.5 for next 2 years then 1.5 for a few years after) they still have neals 1.9 million for next year plus browns 3.25 mill bonus money putting them at a 6.25 in dead space then the years after are between 1.5-2.5 million. i know its not a lot but its helpful for a team thats trying to go all in and id rather have the cap space then the draft picks at this point. plus its more for clearing cap space this year to make some big pushes at the deadline.
