SO, you believe that keeping all these guys on F and paying them top value gives us our best chance to win a cup?? Please, in all the years of hockey show me an example of any team that has half their salary tied up in 4 forwards and won a cup or even contended for one.

I underpaid Knies because he isn’t hitting decent point totals yet to give him more money. Give him a 2 year bridge deal to show his worth and pay accordingly after that. But he probably could be closer to 3.5.
McCabe is a stud. He makes a few mistakes for sure but he is also playing on his off side this year. One of the few guys in this team that wear his heart on his sleeve. We don’t have enough of that. Benoit also deserves what he is getting. He has been the Leafs best defensive D.

Yes because we have no other options they all retire leafs, we can still build a competitive team around them lots of teams are top heavy it’ll be fine, I can understand giving Knies a bridge deal but I believe he’s gonna continue to improve every game and by this time he’ll be worth far more then that

If Leafs get knocked in the first round again, you will still feel the same way?

You said you were going to troll (sorry "cheer") for a different team if Willy resigned. How dare you offer us such salvation only to go back on your word. How dare you

That I agree with. I hope it happens this year. I believe guys like Bertuzzi (and a few others)would thrive under a new coach. You can tell he hates Keefe.

Should fire him immediately, worse case, they win some games here and then spend important futures on rentals. This isn't the season to go big.

100% we aren’t winning anything this year it’s not the year to spend big id be fine if they spent a first next season after a good offseason but zero reason to spend the first this year

I’d trade a 1st or prospect if they were able to acquire a D with term. Would be nice not to leave them hung out to dry this year because of his bad signings. But definitely wouldn’t go after a rental this year.

The only that match that is Larsson or Oleksiak but I doubt they’re available Seattle is still fighting for a playoff spot and because they have term I doubt they sell them, Larsson is an original kraken

Letting Marner “walk” would be the Leafs worst decision of all time. Marner will re sign 12.5x8 and at the end of his career will be the all time points leader.

I would move out all the FA's for younger players with some term. Some but low, in need of a fresh start candidates. Maybe get lucky and find some contributors who can be part of the solution for the next 4-6 years. The team does have some good pieces that will only get better. Matthews, Marner and Nylander are going to be elite for the next 5-7 years. Knies, Minten, Cowan, Liljegren, Niemela and some others can be very good depth for us in that time frame. Find a few other solid pieces for the backend in the 25-27 year range and we can reset for a long window.

Both are on the wrong side of 30. It's a waste of assets to acquire anyone who will be declining ASAP.

Unfortunately we don't have management that knows what they are doing so I bet Treliving makes some terrible decisions that cement TO into a pretender for the remainder of this window.

Leafs aren’t giving him more then 11 his market value is 9.3 he’s been overpaid his entire career only been kind worth it this year and last year and the only reason we paid him so much was 2 offer sheets he got sent to him and there’s no more offer sheets when you’re a ufa, maybe maybe he gets as much as nylander but zero chance he gets more the pecking order has changed it’s Matthews, nylander, marner, Tavares

God I hope not he’s said a lot of things but I hope he stays true to his word and minimal buying if any this deadline, zero need to spend a first it makes no sense, draft a defender and they’ll be ready in 3 years max, far smarter

Yeah I don't really care who they draft. As you mentioned they may be ready in 3 years. That's too long to wait, so draft the best player. If they hit, you can keep them and move someone else or trade that person for a different young player who is a defenceman. The leafs need to find 2 or 3 defenceman to support Rielly and Liljegren. Niemela I think will eventually be a big help as well, but still we need 3 others. And not more old guys.

Roy should be our number 1 target in free agency and LA can’t even afford to extend him and he’d sign at 29 give him 6x6 and it wouldn’t age poorly with how much the cap is going up in the next couple years

^ this is exactly why the Leaf's won't ever win a cup with their current core. Only franchise where management and fans share the same thought process.
