At this point I honestly don't think Carrier is much of a upgrade on Ceci (unless Carrier is having a monster year that I don't know about), I agree we need to upgrade on Ceci but I think we can do better. I'd rather trade for Sissons over Novak, he would come much cheaper and would be a more effective piece. I feel like we overpay a bit here for a couple players we could do better on

I don't think you know who Carrier is but I'll ignore that portion (I am prepared for the TOI comparison though).

EDM should be prioritizing an upgrade on Ceci and a little more forward depth IMO, may not end up being this trade but I would hope for a trade like this.

Carrier brings a lot of puck movement and a bit better defending than Ceci, maybe something others dont value as they want a true defensive Dman with Nurse (I just really dont).
Also, Coffey has talked about the importance of being a puck mover and Carrier fits that description, most defensive Dmen I seen thrown around on this site in EDM ACGMs dont.

Novak is mostly due to his cap hit, he is an upgrade for our bottom 6 and may slot in well between Holloway/Kane or Holloway/Cloud, 100% see Sissons being more a fit in our bottom 6 if the cap would work.

The 1st being included is cause it's likely the price that would need to be paid, but Holland wouldn't trade for rentals so I included "extension in place".

Why do you think carrier is better cause he’s not lmao he plays bottom pairing minutes which significantly easier than what Ceci plays against. Novak isn’t gonna produce the same as he does on Nashville cause he will play the 4C on limited minutes it’s just not worth it for Edmonton. Also carrier is 175 5’10 he isn’t the style of defensemen that holland is looking for. He has less playoff experience then desharneis and at this point I don’t really see him as an upgrade over desharneis with the way he’s playing this year

I like Ceci, if you disagree with this trade thats fine but I do see Carrier as an upgrade atm who is younger and will likely be about the same price.
Novak would likely slot in at the 3rd line, what he brings is fine for that position.

Well I mean he plays on the 3rd pair so I would assume he plays bottom pairing minutes and he definitely isn’t the best RD on that team and he isn’t the style of defensmen holland is looking for holland is looking for a veteran defensemen with actual playoff experience not minimal experience and someone that’s over 6Ft 200Ibs not 175 5’10

According to money puck Ceci is ranked 133rd for best defensemen 5 on 5 this year carrier was nowhere to be found on the list cause he’s not as good and didn’t even crack the top 300 I’m not gonna list all the numbers why Ceci is better cause you can do that on ur own time
