Perhaps an extra draft pick could do it. But I don’t see it being a 2nd rounder. It’d have to be a 3rd

Reports of interest in Hanifin. He would end up bolstering the blue line and he plays more defence than Letang and Karlsson. It would allow for both Letang and Karlsson to do more things offensively. I don’t think it’s totally serious interest. But I thought I’d try and chalk up some sort of idea to see how a trade could work out

I think it would be a really bad idea to trade a 1st at this deadline. If we really want to upgrade and get an elite player I think it would require a hockey trade. Would require tons of creativity

Can't see Pittsburgh doing this unless they can move Graves. That's a lot of $$$ for a number 5 defenseman. Especially when you have Ludvig ready to assume that role.

I do not see a need for the Penguins to acquire Hanafin. An upgrade over Ruhwedel for RD and depth for the bottom lines should be greater needs.

The Pens shouldn't be buyers of upcoming UFA. Pens have few prospects. Is Hanifan really going to make THAT much difference to the Pens fortunes this year?
