Take out Tarasenko, Roy, Laferriere and the 2nd. You'd probably have to give up the 2024 1st instead.

Is trading Laferriere a good idea?

Tarasenko is who we need to light up the offense. And Arvidsson returns to when playoffs start we a deadly threat. I'm not really a fan of Roy. He's prolly gonna go to the Red Wings at some point of his career, why not trade him there.

Yeah I don't see why not. He's not ever gonna be a Top 6 Forward anyways.

The Kings don't need any more left-handed forwards. Also, players that "finish" on other teams don't end up finishing very well on the Kings. Even the success stories (e.g. Jeff Carter) saw their goal production drop significantly from their previous teams once they joined the Kings.

I don't know what to tell you if you don't like Matt Roy, except that you're wrong. After Doughty, he's the best defenseman on the Kings.

I don't agree with this either. Laferriere has the potential to be the next Alex Iafallo (another guy who was incredibly underrated).

When Carter joined the Kings, the Kings at that time were a very defensive structured team. The Kings are more balanced now. I played for the Junior Kings roughly 10 years ago and we won the tournament our entire team shot Left. Not one single right hand player. So don't see that as an issue.

Mikey Anderson, Vlad Gavrikov are way better than Matt Roy. Matt Roy will have strong games here and there but he'll always take stupid penalties and not be in the best defensive positioning.

On Laf, we can't really argue on that because neither of us can accurately predict the future.

Did you seriously just compare youth hockey with the NHL? In my beer league, all of our skaters are right handed. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. In the NHL, if you don't have both right and left shot forwards, it restricts the effectiveness of players, especially on the power play since they have to wait for the puck to cross their body before they can blast one-timers. There are numerous other negatives to having a shortage of right-handed players. Something tells me your youth team wasn't running a NHL power play.

Neither Anderson nor Gavrikov are better than Matt Roy. Advanced analytics will back me up on this one too. There's a reason why he was the #1 defenseman when Doughty went down with an injury in 2021-22. He can't play on the top pair with Doughty because they're both right handed, but he's still the 2nd best defenseman on the team. There's also a reason why during the one game this season that neither Spence nor Clarke were available due to cap issues, the Kings went with Matt Roy on PP2 over either of the guys you mentioned.

We're discussing potential with Laferriere. You said that he'll never play in the top six. I said he has top six potential. He might not ever realize that potential, but based on his emergence this season, I'd say it was a solid bet that he will. Regardless, he definitely has the potential to get there, so the only issue I have in your statement is "never."
