The Rangers are not getting a 1st line center for Nick Holden

Description
In the unlikely event that Nick Holden plus a B prospect and a 2nd rounder doesn’t land the Rangers Duschene, Bozak or Trochek, I think they’ll want to go into the season with a little more experience at center. Just throwing a couple of trade ideas out there that are closer in value and fill team needs on both sides. A solid bottom pair D for a 4th line C.

        OP, that's why I'm giving you 3 stars instead of 2; gonna balance the score out. Of course Holden alone will not fetch a 1C, but when you add some other pieces to him, a team that needs defensive depth could cough up a 2C. Bozak for Holden+ seems less likely now, but the Rangers could probably get Spooner for Holden and a 1st/2nd. All four teams would be "making out like gangbusters here compared to [the Rangers]" because defensemen are typically valued more than forwards. Holden had a career year and has some talent on both sides of the puck; the problem is he's not very smart. Still, Holden alone could give the Rangers at least a 3C.

        Agreed I think I seen someone trade Holden a first third and fifth rounder for duchene hahah

        Thank you for getting that I wasn't proposing a 26 man roster, almost $3 million over the cap.

        I feel like Vegas having a half dozen bottom pair LD on the market doesn't help the Rangers position. Definitely not trying to say he has no value.

        this may be closer to Holdens value but NYR might rather take a mid round pick to alleviate the logjam on D instead of taking another non-asset like Nash. DD is pretty much secure in his 4C role and 13th fwds are still plentiful in the FA pool.
