Reportedly they are looking for a 1st for Tanev. So that means Minten Robertson and Brodie for Hanifin.

It's a first plus a prospect for either Tanev and Hanifin. hanifin will net more for sure. That would need Toronto to add a 2026 first to the above trade and even then it may not be enough. Minten would be considered the prospect addition to the trade. I would say no. I don't want to see leafs trade their first unless it's for a younger defenseman with term. Sadly only one listed as potential is Chychrun and reality says that Ottawa will charge a hefty rival tax making that trade undoable.

Getting rid of all future for one run when it is a long shot does not make sense. Adding Tanev or Hanifin on its own probably does not help move the needle much so I would see the better scenario to keep minten and the 1st round picks.
Look at next year.
