Trading a RFA young defenceman for a 33 year old UFA defenceman? That's just silly.

You must not be familiar with balancing salaries. I think it'd likely take more than the package offered here in terms of picks or prospects but teams like Arizona are pretty well known for taking on salary to make deals that have young assets attached to them.

timmins was given to TML for free last year, not sure they want him back. reaves is a neg, and 3rd is in few years. not saying dumba has a lot of value but think AZ (w 50%) can get a 3rd in '24 without having to take on back contract for few years.

That wasn't the point of my comment though, I also said it'd take more than that package. My point being Arizona frequently takes on contracts to gather more valuable assets in trades. Also, a lot changes in a year, Timmins has played pretty well for the Leafs and if Arizona wouldn't keep him it's another player they can still flip for more picks as teams routinely do.

I don't think the framework of the deal is crazy, I just think it's light on the Leafs end. But my overarching point was that it's not crazy to think Arizona or a similar team would take on Reaves if it came with desirable assets.

you must not be familiar that Bill Armstrong said they are no longer doing that. The Leafs would have to give up A LOT!!! more such as high picks and prospects for somebody to take on Reaves and let the Leafs off the hook. Would be a lot more than just a 3rd round pick. Typical Leafs fan out to lunch.

Trading liljegren in a move for tanev is peak dumb. Liljegren is worth a mid first pick alone.

You must not have read anything else I said, such as "it'd likely take more than the package offered here in terms of picks or prospects" so turn your brain on for a moment before responding and looking like a fool.

GMs say a lot of things. Things change and needs change especially as the deadline gets closer.

Anyway, like I said, it'd take more than a 3rd - although interesting you completely overlook Timmins as well but whatever. I wouldn't hold your breath that you're going to get some massive return for Dumba. Nor would I hold my breath if I were you that the Leafs would need to make some massive overpay sweetener to move a $1.35m contract.

Yea we aren't getting a return for Dumba. He's been our worst D all year. We already had Timmins. Career bottom pair guy. He doesn't move the needle. A 3rd rounder for Reaves is an embossing proposal. Honestly one of the worst i've ever seen on here
