AZ is not trading core players for more futures - they have enough picks prospects

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jamnjon</b></div><div>Based on The Athletic's pick valuations, pick 34 is worth 2.5 GSVA, pick 42 is worth 2.0, and 58 is worth 1.2. Generally if a team is trading up they overpay a bit according to those values, so it could be close and potentially could happen. For instance, a couple of years back the Sharks traded pick 11 (5.7 GSVA) to Arizona for 27 (3.2), 34 (2.5), and 45 (1.8). The 45th pick was essentially thrown in for free based on those values, and the gap between 34 and 42+58 is closer at 0.7.
Of course it depends on who the team trading up is targeting more than generic valuations...I suspect if the Sharks are pushing for the trade it would swing in the favor of Arizona instead this time. If the Sharks throw in their 2025 4th which has about 0.5 GSVA in value depending on exact placement (assuming 98 based on these other numbers but if a team gets a compensatory 2nd it might be pushed back slightly) it might be enough.</div></div>
i get the values etc (11 to 27 is huge difference) - 2nd round and beyond its about finding diamonds in the rough and Id rather have 2 cracks than 1. i get the value if there is a guy you really want its worth bumping up.

little early for the 2025 draft slots and AZ (or anyone) is not giving 2x 2nd for 1 x 2nd. I dont see a 34OA having that much better chances than a 42OA to pan out. maybe a 2nd and 5th to move up a bit in the 2nd.

What would you trade him for? A 2nd?</div></div>
AZreally doesnt need more picks. Mcbain has a role (and is really good at it) is young, cheap and there is no reason to trade him. The holes AZ has is 1/2C and top pair D, I dont see AZ trading any core players unless is part of package to fill those needs.

AZ passes - they like mcbain and what he brings to the ice. I hope KK turns it around that contract is too risky if he doesnt.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>edeangel84</b></div><div>Cap space is the only reason. And he is objectively a better player today than the kids you have at RW. If you are saying you’d rather give the minutes to those kids that’s understandable, but every GM in this league would take a veteran winger with Rakell’s resume over 98% of the kids in the league if they’re trying to win.</div></div>
AZ RW are schmaltz, guenther, doan and carcone. Ill put rakell at this moment ahead of the kids but 2 things; rakell has 4 more years and guenther & doan and prolly but will over those years surpass rakell who will be 35yo at the end of contract. second this team is not a rakell away from competing for cup so yes develop the kids. sorry i know PITT wants/needs to shed cap but AZ has really no need for 30+ yo W for 4 years

there are no reasons to trade a guy that does a good job at everything - nothing great just a bit of everything. that is a very valuable player.

ok so which current winger is he bumping? also if he is this valuable why are there 20 trades a day getting rid of him?
