Easily prefer the heavy center with enough skill to play up in the lineup in a pinch than the more talented lightweight, always-injured winger who can't carve out a spot on his team even though they need cheap depth and is about to be waiver-eligable.

A 2nd pair at best player, a small winger who can’t stay healthy who at best is worth a 3rd or 4th, and a B prospect is an overpay for what would be the best RD on your team? Okay, you can keep your spare parts, Arizona was never interested anyways

Loose the retention on Hanifin and replace the 2024 1st for a 2024 2nd (your choice) and it is a deal that would likely get inked. AZ would need assurances from the Hanifin camp that a 4-5yr term extension is acceptable.

Skill wise yes. But you're missing the intangibles he brings to ARI, which are far more important. His leadership and toughness are key to enabling the young players to grow, and he's a big reason they're in a playoff spot.

Can you explain to me why Arizona would trade their 3C for a player he’s substantially outperforming, while playing the more important position, and PKing?

Pageau to the desert
I have thought that Schmaltz is a potential trade chip for a while but I just don't see AZ making any trade for him anytime soon. Schmaltz is a part of how Keller stays happy with the team through this arena BS and eleventy-seventh rebuild. Without Schmaltz (best friend on team) being Kellers dependable linemate I could see Keller going the Chychrun route and wanting a fresh start somewhere else.
Side note: wonder how Chychrun feels about the Sens being a bottom feeder and the Yotes pushing for a playoff spot? He left because he wanted to be on a team that would compete in the post season. AZ stock is rising faster than OTT these days.

No one is paying 2 1sts for Hanifin certainly not Arizona you can expect that prospect and 4 2nds at the most and that’s maybe even pushing it might only be 3 2nds but it’ll be zero firsts for sure

A couple trades and lines revamped
Hard Pass on Nylander. He is a good player, but hockey is a team sport. Cost is too high for a single player. His age is also a factor, if/when the Yotes will be contenders he will be in the backside of his career and that 10.5MM will be better spent on a couple of players then on a single scoring winger.

wing options
Crouse is a core player for AZ. I don't see him getting traded for anything other than an extreme overpay. I suppose there have been hail-mary GM moves in the past that have been offered just don't see a real trade materializing that would be enough of an overpay.
Zucker is an option. Neither the team nor the player see any long term fit in AZ. If the Yotes are out at the deadline he is going to be on the market. If they are in or fighting for a spot in the postseason (shocking) they will probably keep him. Especially if he becomes the right guy to help shepherd Cooley.

Crouse put up 24 goals and 45 points last year as a power forward, he’d get a 1st and 2nd if Arizona were interested in selling which they’re not

My standings prediction
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>Boston allowed 50 less goals last season than the best of those teams and are returning with the same group. None of them are comparables. Hell, trying to say Pittsburgh have any kind of defensive defense is a joke in and of itself. The Islanders would be the closest thing to a comparable of them, the others just don't belong in any way, but even with their top 2 centers gone Bostons offense still easily outshines the Islanders.
Boston was also the best team in the league, and by like 20 points, without those defensemen. Trying to use that as a benchmark for what to expect from other teams is ridiculous. What Boston had left was night and day compared to what Florida has also. Boston also still had goaltending while Florida's has been awful other than the playoff run by Bob. Boston still had Lindholm, Grzelcyk, and others. Florida has OEL. There's a dozen reasons using those 2 teams for a comparison isn't a good idea. Other teams won't succeed in the same position just because Boston did, it's still more likely they don't.
Chicago maybe, the other 2 they don't stand a chance. Either way we are talking about teams no one expects to make the playoffs. They aren't important.</div></div>
I think you both vastly underappreciate the loss of Bergeron specifically and overvalue actual goals against. Boston had the best GA/60 in the league last year with 1.74/60 at 5v5. their xGA/60 was 5th in the league with a 2.39/60 and their CA/60 was also 5th with a 53.08. Boston while yes they did have a historic season they were defensively outperforming expectations fairly significantly. It's highly unlikely Ullmark repeats the success he had last year and lack of Bergeron will greatly hurt their defensive play. Right now I would say they are on par with Minnesota.
Florida didn't have Spencer Knight for half the season though and he is a good young goalie. Bob is a good goalie when he is rested, he sucks when he is overworked. If you didn't know this you clearly didn't watch a single game during the playoffs because they talked about him getting rest constantly. I am also not saying that Florida will get 130+ points but it sure isn't hard to beat out a team like Buffalo who are at best on par offensively, have a slight edge defensively while Ekblad and Montour are out (worse after they are back), and no goaltending whatsoever.
Have you not seen Arizona's transformation from last year? They added Cooley, Guenther, Zucker, Kerfoot, Dumba, and Durzi. They lost 36 games of Chychrun, Fischer, Nemeth, Ritchie, and Gostbehere. Hayton will get a full year in a top 6 center role, Maccelli and McBain will continue to improve with more experience, Soderstrom might make the team full time too. They are a young team now with legitimate depth and they play in by far the weakest division. I would say they have a better chance of making the playoffs than Winniepeg.
