Why would you trade Lilly for a old injury prone rental

Lilly is a 3rd pairing guy at best. Sort of master of none type player. Not great 5v5 or special teams.

Seems like you're trading too much for minimal improvement?

Now with a real coach, Lilly would be a solid 2nd pairing guy. Problem is Keefe is so worried about his job he thinks his so called veteran guys are his best option. Lilly and McCabe right now are way better RD than Brodie but he is still on the top pairing. Every d-man needs the proper partner and a big physical d-man beside Lilly would be a very solid 2nd pairing.

Brodie-Lili have been dominant as a top pair the last 3 games. The PP is 60% when QBed by Lili.

He is a solid guy, feels like everyone forgot how screwed the Leafs were when he got injured earlier this year. It started a massive tailspin for the team. When you give him a good partner and a good role then he is a great player. When you have him playing with Benoit, Lagesson, Gio and changing partners each game he is obviously going to struggle.
