Lafreniere and Kakko are two young assets ready to thrive in a new rebuild situation, yep, definitely. Othmann is a tremendous left wing prospect and they get a 1st, as well as Goodrow to play bottom six minutes and be a leader veteran type blah blah blah, also balance the cap hits. Henrique should be gone soon too, which would change the lines up again.

Ana: *Killorn out

Henrique - Carlsson - Strome
Lafreniere - McTavish - Terry
Lundestrom - Groulx - Kakko
Johnston - Goodrow - Silfverberg

Nyr when healthy, Zegras back in about a month-ish? Trocheck moves down and may not like it, but it only lasts until Wheeler's contract is up, then in the offseason the Rangers find a 3C (Chytil?) and he moves up to 2RW or 2C. Gives them exceptional center depth as long as they can trust Wheeler to just cause trouble while Zegras and Panarin do their thang. Or, maybe the Rangers even make Zegras play 3C for the rest of the season?? None of these assets are UFAs at year's end.

Kreider - Zibanejad - Vatrano
Panarin - Zegras - Wheeler
Cuylle - Trocheck - Vesey
McGinn - Brodzinski - Pitlick

2024-25 Nyr:

Kreider - Zibanejad - Vatrano
Zegras - Trocheck - Panarin
Cuylle - Chytil - Vesey
McGinn - TBD - TBD

So, again, Ducks fans will surely hate it, claiming Lafreniere and Kakko are worthless compared to the godly Zegras lol. Exaggerating for effect, but honestly how close?

I think it has tremendous potential IF all of the pieces involved hit their peak, or at least approach it. Kakko could find a perfect niche on a different team, one like the Ducks with plenty of time to experiment with him.

I think the Rags would regret this. It’ll end up like the Dubois trade. I also don’t see a great fit.

Well thought and reasoned. Z might become P-L, but I would bet he'd be a star playing with guys like Zib and Panarin in their top six.

Wouldn’t you consider it more of the same for the Rangers? I feel like they’re missing some different elements. Their need isn’t another flashy perimeter, no defense playing star I don’t think.

Hey, this is kinda late lol, but yeah, I see your point, especially with hindsight available.
