there is zero chance a declining team in PIT is trading all of that for rental Hanifin. Just none.
this whole thing is awful

He’d be extended and I’m not quitting on Crosby.

A first a third and a prospect is fairly standard for a top talent

with what money are you extending him. If the team extends Jake there is none.
If they don't, you are just wasting your time and it's time to switch to a youth mode not another aging vet.

There’s no cap crunch dude. Roy Carter and foligno all would be coming off the books plus the giant cap increase coming this offseason. Plenty of room

If there isn’t cap room for some crazy reason, you can put on the big boy GM hat and trade a guy too.

I’m living in the now. Sid Crosby is still a top 5–10 player in the world and I’m not giving up on him.

Arthur Kaliyev who currently plays bottom 6 for the LA Kings who has a great shot and if given ice time he can probably score 20 goals.

Matt Roy who is currently the 2nd Pairing RD for the Kings.

So why give up Kaliyev and Roy for AHL Forward and a LD. We don't need a Top 4 LD we already have Gavrikov and Anderson.

Foligno for a 4th and a 6th plus retained money. Not going to happen.

laugh $17,500,000 to sign 8 players and Hanifin and Roy alone eat about $13,000,000 that. And why would either commit long term with the oldest team in the NHL. Pittsburgh needs to think about a major rebuild here shortly. Not kicking the can down the eoad.

Yes let’s intentionally be bad instead of intentionally be good. At least that easier.

Red wings should rebuild too. They will not be making playoffs. The oilers have more points than them with games in hand

Yeah well sometimes you need that to happen, Once Crosby and Malkin are gone and Letang and Karlsson are gone. You're going to be screwed as your prospect pipeline is one of the worst in the league. You can't just keep adding older players and expect to continue to be very competitive.

laugh Crosby 1 year Malkin 2 years, Karlsson 3 years and Letang 4 years. And in the time Pittsburgh at best is a bubble team and not even close to a cup contender.

That’s how the standings work according to you bud. There a random ass team in another division doing well so you can’t make playoffs
