Not saying they would necessarily but Parayko doesn't fit the retool timeline and they could take advantage early and get paid a nice package for him instead of paying to dump him near the end of the contract or riding it out through the dog days

They're trading their only good defenseman in this situation to a division rival for 7 years mind you. I don't see a piece in there that would make a difference unless the 1st is a lotto pick which is unlikely. It's guaranteeing that the team is extremely uncompetitive for years. But yet they wont be able to bottom out unless they trade Thomas, Buchnevich and their goalies as well. Their ideal timeline isn't 5+ years. It's 2-3 as Faulk, Saad, Krug and Leddy's contracts tick down, along with Binningtons.

Hmmm I just don't see that 2-3 year timeline, think Hofer, Snuggerud, Dvorsky, neighbors, Peru, buchinger primes while Thomas, kyrou etc are vets will be the next chance to make the push, they can sell off their current vets you listed and have some lottery years in between, rebuild the blue line. but maybe you're right

I think they very easily would move off the guys I listed. Maybe not Binnington yet. But I would imagine if anyone was calling about Saad, Schenn (maybe), and Krug it wouldn't take a whole lot. I'd also imagine Hayes and Faulk could be had fairly reasonably. The issue with trading Parayko is it signals a full teardown. We can't rebuild a full defense in 5 years unless we get lucky and snag a #1D in the draft this next draft.

None become available via UFA, I guess you could trade for someone like Hanifin, but He's probably a #2/3.

Muh huh. Says the guy who posts this trade and then flips out at a polite rejection. I rest my case.

My own two cents: The Jets would not disrupt their team chemistry this way in any case, so the debate is moot smile

Any further actions by the Jets will be depth additions to help with injuries, banged up and bruised bodies in the playoffs that need fewer minutes, etc. This proposal represents a major change to the team that just doesn't make sense for them at this juncture, I think..

Plus whatever the Blues feel lol.

As an offseason move though, if things don't quite pan out this year, maybe Parayko would be a decent target, if they can match the price it would require.

Runs immediately to a puerile, tired insult - call it whatever you want, man. The only one in their feels here is you.

Don't think it disrupts anything for the jets Appleton does nothing for the 3rd line and Stanley has been in the press box and requested a trade last year
