It's not a bad idea. Rangers get an additional first they can use to acquire another piece at the deadline.

To make it work CHI needs to retain 50% and possibly get another team to retain an additional 25% for a pick.

No way should Hawks trade for Kakko at all , let alone give up a first & a 2nd for him. Just because he was drafted 2nd overall 4 seasons ago doesn’t mean he is worth what the Rangers would want in return for him.
