AZ doesnt need 31yo bottom 6 C making 5m for 2+ years and can use the 2x 3rd for better things

Their current C1 & C2 are McBain and Bjugstad. Assuming nothing crazy happens for them Pageau would likely play C2 and actually get ice time. His offensive production may be down a bit but he's still an elite defensive center and faceoff taker. I know the contract is a concern so maybe a 3rd and 4th instead of 2 3rds.

hayton is normal 1C (although he is going to drop down when cooley is ready, he is 23yo) mcbain is 3C, cooley (19yo) and geekie (19yo) are next up. not saying pageau isnt decent (Bjug still would be 2C) 3C but he is not in future plans rather let the young guys develop (need ice time), and that 5m can go to improving the D. pageau fits a contender that needs veteran 3C/PK guy, not really a fit on rebuilding team

I was just basing off of current lines on dailyfaceoff. It has Hayton listed on the 4th and Cooley on his wing

If you mean a sign-and-trade for Duke that's alright, but the latest CBA prohibits conditions on trade related to if the player re-signs with the new team.

hayton been out since nov, first game back tonight. cooley has been 1-4C and playing some wing, think they just moving him around to learn the different roles and develop overall game.

I had it as a 3rd for deadline and then did conditional re-sign thing but apparently those aren't allowed anymore. So it would be a 3rd rather than a second. I'll edit that

A 3rd + a 5th AND Wahlstrom is just too much he’s underperforming I think there are better options for a price like that
