No thanks, id like to hang onto the RFA controlled Puustinen. He can contribute for the next few years while making under 1 million aav. That’s so valuable.

OTT can probably get a 1st for a retained Tarasenko anyways and would likely rather have that.

I don't know if I'm right but feels like NHL wouldn't allow a team to trade a player (Smith here) then reacquire said player with retained salary.

They can. What they can't do is trade back for a player they currently have retention on.
