Boston uses their amazing goaltending depth to improve their C.
Buffalo get a legit starting goalie with their forward depth.

I just thought of this trade now. Does either team consider? Who or what needs to be added?

Don't pay attention to the lines. Feel free to tell me what the Boston lines should look like if you want though!

I’d give you Merkulov and Ullmark for Middlestadt. You can then keep UPL and try to trade him if you think he’s that good. Should be able to get a haul

I'm a fan of both Ullmark and UPL, but I don't see any difference.

Ullmark has gotten considerably better under Essensa. Much better positioning in advance of the play development. His level of improvement has been substantial and it didn’t happen overnight

They have a stat called GSaX / 60, which adjusts for the number of difficult shots you face. For goalies with over 15 starts, Ullmark is 4th, Swayman 7th, UPL 27th, Levi 37th.

Would take a kings ransom and then some to get BOS to consider moving Swayman, especially within the div

This offer likely wouldnt do it, Mitts and the 2nd are nice pieces, but UPL is not very enticing to BOS (although he could become a great NHL goalie someday)

UPL: .914 sv%, 2.40 GAA, 7.16GSAA
Sawyman: ..912, 2.71, 6.39

Why on earth would BUF even trade UPL for Swayman straight up? And you think BOS should just get a top C in the league, on a $2.5mm contract, on top of it and a 2nd??

Since Dec. 30th 2023:

UPL .931 sv% (1st), 1.90 GAA (1st), GSAA/60 (3rd)
Swayman .915 (13th), 2.69 (19th), GSAA/60 (12th)

How's that popcorn? Oh, and to recap. BUF has kept the better goalie. BUF has kept the 2nd round pick. And BUF swapped Mitts for Byram...

GSAx/60 is an interesting stat showing UPL is playing well enough l. Total goals doesn’t contemplate # of appearances

This doesn’t include today, which should raise Ullmark’s position.
