So you didn't sign Spooner or Trade him. We lose him for nothing?

We're not going to ruin DeBrusk on the 4th line.

1. Stafford won't be back, he wants to play in Minny
2. Way too much given up for a defenceman we don't need.
3. You missed Spooner - either traded for high round pick or signed and playing 3rd C
4. Move Vatrano and DeBrusk up, move Bjork to Providence and Nash to 4th C

Signings are accurate and Cap Space is good!

I really don't think they care about Spooner as much as you think. He's probably going to arbitration and even then they might not even sign him.

And Marchand started on the fourth line...

Thanks!
1. I saw the reports too, but I don't know if I'd say he 'wants' to go there. Also, he's documented saying he likes it in Boston as well
2. I disagree, they desperately need a proven left shot defenseman to help groom prospects (McAvoy), and be the Chara's replacement.
3. Didn't miss, think they'll cut ties with him. I've been convinced since he sat in the playoffs
4. After Marchand, the left-wings are a crapshoot. However, I think Bjork will make the team out of camp. Whether he stays is a different argument

You misunderstood me. I don't think we want to keep him, but I think we'd like to trade him. Hopefully he doesn't get arbitration and is moved before then.

Marchand wasn't a 1st round pick who was projected as a top 6 forward.

As soon as Stafford says he's interested in Minny, Bruins mgmnt turn the corner on him. They always want character guys that WANT to be there. I like Stafford but these days of pro athletes wanting to take control of where they play probably won't sit well with "old school" senior mgmnt in Bruins office IMO!!
I think they could use a stabilizer so Miller doesn't have to play left, but they have the guys to groom them already (Chara. McQuaid, Miller, Krug). I wouldn't pay any more than $3M for that stabilizer
Spoons is an asset. Even if they moved him for a 5th rd pick it's still better than we have!!! But I think they sign him for 1 year and give him one more shot with new linemates

I think they would've tried harder to trade him if they valued him as a impact player, so while I also would like to get something back for him too, I think the time has come and gone.

Ok, but I still don't think putting DeBrusk on the fourth line would ruin him. He could get his feet wet in the NHL without having much pressure to instantly produce, while also shaping his defensive game. Obviously he could move up, which I think will eventually happen, so I'm not afraid of starting him there

But Nash centering the 3rd line is a nightmare, so you may as well start rearranging the bottom 6 now.

I agree with this. Nash should only be a 3rd C for 20 games or less as a "fill in" type player.

I stand by what I've said about DeBrusk except I didn't mean "ruin" as in he'd become a less than NHLer or be stuck on the 4th line the rest of his career. I just meant ruin his progression and upside to be a 1st line forward. I think we'll get more out of him the following year if we let him go for a PPG in the AHL, instead of him getting 20ish points on line #4. Also his methodology would change from being on the 4th line. Someone had a good line in THN, saying "you can't dangle when you're on the 4th line" It's just a more simplified type of game. North South chip and chase. I want him to keep his creativity high this year and I don't think he's overqualified for the AHL, given he didn't score at a really high pace last season. He scored at an honest good pace, but this year he could go for a PPG or like 60+ points in 70Games. Put him in the AHL and give him 15+ mins a night instead of 13 or less in the NHL. When he makes the NHL I want his role to be as a scorer, not a guy who's out there to get physical and play defense first hockey.
