OTT would have no interest in Kulak and would most likely rather have branny

Hamonic can stay right where he goddam is. Otherwise, I think it addresses EDM's needs & considers their limitations enough that I'd think they'd consider it. Even if they might prefer keeping Kulak due to how he usually plays in the postseason, salary almost has to go out to add what we're told they're looking for.

I guess Brannstrom for Kulak one for one is for cap reasons because why would Ottawa want to do that then? Older, more term, not an upgrade

I'm a fan of both the Senators and the Oilers... And we all say no, as much as I'd love Branns in an Oilers uniform, I don't think the Oilers have the right guys to send over to the Senators

That's incorrect. Brannstrom does not fit what the Sens need, which is a big, strong, defensive defenseman for their bottom pair.

He is an upgrade, Ottawa needs a strong defenseman who can compete physically with other teams. Brannstrom is not that.

Terasenko should be able to get you a higher pick in the 1st Round, especially if you're putting Branns in the same trade, Kulak and Brown on the other hand don't benefit the Senators at all well... Kulak might, unless you're flipping kulak and our 1st for a higher pick then yes it'll make sense, but I wouldn't want to rip off my other favorite team just so Connor and Leon have a better shot at a cup, plus the Oilers wouldn't have enough cap space for that

Brannstrom has excellent metrics though, well when he's not paired with Hamonic. Even Sanderson has horrific metrics with Hamonic lol

But agreed, Sens need more muscle in their defense... Trading Brannstrom should mean either Kleven is 100% ready or each of Sanderson, Chabot and Chychrun anchor their pairing. Problem is we only have Zub and a 3rd pairing RHD (JBD). We're missing another NHL RHD

Chychrun plays fine on the right side with either Chabot or Sanderson, the Sens could use a big, strong LHD for the bottom pair to play with JBD.

hmm I don't know... asking a D-man to play on his wrong side is already a lot but maybe it's the plan. If that's the case, then our defense going forward should be :

Chychrun - Sanderson
Chabot - Zub
Kleven - JBD
Guenette

You might be surprised by Chychrun - Sanderson but they have the 2nd best xGF% in the entire NHL among the 200 pairings with at least 100 minutes at ES. Small sample size of course but that's Elite, 67%
