I understand the cap help moving ceci provides but that’s an important part of the roster I can’t get behind without a CLEAR upgrade. I like Carrier but don’t consider him that.

For me it's a risk worth taking if you can get some scoring help as well(Nyquist). There are certainly other options but Holland's nostalgia makes me think he'd deal with NSH again, especially to acquire a player he knows well(drafted him in 2008).

There is no reason for NSH to consider that offer

Reason #1
Carrier is unsigned UFA likely wanting to cash in. NSH could lose for nothing.

Reason #2
Ceci fills the roster spot and gets them another year.

Reason #3
Carrier is a parallel move for EDM. The value in the trade is adding Nyquist. No way I'm talking Nyquist & a 1st in the same breath.

I’m fine trading Nyquist for a 2nd, maybe with a prospect, anywhere— not interested in Carrier for Ceci. Especially if that’s all NSH gets while using their last retention slot.

Dowd has to be 50% retained to return a 1st.

That we can agree on. Barrie is prob the better use of that retention slot.
That said, a 3rd team for the 50% is doable. Minor details
