Kings are 3-0 since Arvidsson returned and Rittich has been outstanding for LA. Even Talbot looked good last game, if things keep going this way, I don't think the Kings are spending on a goaltender at the deadline.

They better or they will fall out of the wild card seeds if they don’t

If you think goaltending is why the Kings have had problems and fired their coach it wasn't. The reason why the Kings goaltenders are playing so strongly is because they have shutdown guys in Anderson, Gavrikov, and Roy with Selke caliber centers in Danault and Kopitar. They just beat the Devils and Bruins with these goaltenders. The kings need to keep their defense intact if they want to improve at goal.

I thought it was more to do with PLD crapping the bed and the two roster players they traded for PLD have the same point totals as PLD but less games and no -16 rating

Nah, watching the games it was clear PLD was part of a problem, but not the main problem. Kopitar had to be injured, his line of Kempe and Byfield fell off a cliff for like 10 games, Danault and Moore also weren't getting the job done, and Fiala was making super bad moves.

PLD became the scapegoat, but arguably he's been one of LAs best players since they made a coaching move. Arvidsson back with Danault and Byfield with PLD has really made the team more solid offensively and defensively. Byfield covers the defensive mistakes of PLD, Arvidsson brings back the playmaking, and Fiala with Kopitar and Kempe has jumpstarted the lines. I think most fans think it's just cheap goaltending or PLD but in reality PLD was put with young inexperienced wingers and really wasn't that great defensively to start with, if you can pair him with a puck-possession two-way winger he settles in just fine.

Who is the trade chip Kings would use to get better, Turcotte?

Rittich is basically stealing the starter job in LA, and Talbot has the playoff experience and was playing to such a level that he got an all star nod. The question isn't which pieces they need to move. It's will the Kings regret trading away either of these goaltenders if the other is the backup.

Once that is settled, LA needs to keep their defense and top-9 offense in line, so that means Lizotte, Grundstrom, and Kaliyev can be potential players to move. Turcotte and Lafreniere can be sent down without clearing waivers and still be depth pieces for playoff runs. If LA traded for Jarry they would need retention to make this work.

To further complicate this trade, the Kings have the Penguins old goalie coach, who was fired because he was blamed for how bad Jarry was. It's so unlikely LA would make this trade from so many different perspectives.
