In this one, the Devils replace Mercer's impact on the roster as best they can in exchange for a 2026 2nd. After the previous trade, the Devils had 22 on the roster, so this one works if you factor it in.

Markstrom - Vanecek/Daws

Siegenthaler - Hamilton
Hughes - Andersson
Smith/Bahl - Marino

Bratt - Hughes - Toffoli
Palat - Hischier - Holtz
Meier - Haula - Duclair
Nosek - Lazar - Bastian/Clarke

Solid third line whose members all can play a little bit of a heavy/gritty game, but put the puck in the net at the same time. Or mix it up and put the ruckus maker Duclair on the 2nd line with Hischier and Palat, and Holtz on the 3rd line with ruckus makers Haula and Meier.

If you envision me putting Rooney in the previous deal, the 4th line becomes Nosek - Rooney - Lazar, a little better in my opinion.

Probably not worth a 2nd to NJD (although I am sure others will pay). Wingers are not a need for NJD as much as dmen and possible, a goalie.
