Even with 50% retention, I'm certain the Stars would hang up (politely, a soft click.. they aren't monsters) if Conroy asked for Stankoven and a 1st as the return.

50% retention and a 2nd that would likely be close to a high 1st in that draft. What would you change to move the needle?

Only way Dallas moves Stanny is if it's Hanifin coming back. Even then, I'm not so sure Dallas says yes

Take out all the 2nds & Stankoven and it's still a slight overpayment for Tanev. Now...it's going to take a slight overpayment to get him at the deadline, but they are absolutely not getting Stankoven ON TOP of a 1st Round Pick. That's a gross overpayment for Dallas.
