Both trades are not realistic...Leafs are not trading Knies and their 2024 1st in any package and Tanev retained is gonna need a bit more quality instead of quantity in the package.

Tanev you're right I forgot to include Retention compensation.

Knies and a 1 for Buch this year and next retained is Very Realistic, Im not saying I'd do it I would hate to give up on Knies but Buch at 4 Million this year and next should be something everyone thinks about.

I guess it is realistic in theory, I just don't see the Leafs having any interest in it.

Knies is exactly the type of winger they have been looking for and is having a solid rookie season. He already plays in the top 6, you don't trade those players away. He will also be a RFA in two years when Buch will be a UFA - his next contract will come in quite a bit cheaper.

Yeah it really comes down to whether or not you think the difference between Knies and Buch in your top 6 is enough to push you to the cup in the next two years.

I understand what you were trying to do here. But the main reason it will come in much cheaper is because Buch is a proven PPG player. Knies is at about .5ppg, cherry picking a bit with sample size but that's the main point. Not a knock on Knies but this is the reality of young kids who come in in good situations. It's just as likely he never solidifies himself as a top 6 player as it is he ever has the same impact Buchnevich has at this level.

Retention of Chris Tanev would cost you your 2024 1st round pick.

The knies and a 1st offer for Pavel Buchnevich Detroit would easily blow that away. Since Armstrong and Yzerman have been trading partners in the past.

Knies may not reach the ppg level for sure, but on the other side of the coin he might be at that level in a couple of years as well. As a rookie he is already playing with the team's best players at about 0.5 ppg clip like you mentioned, so it is impossible. His next deal would still be cheaper then what Buchnevich would likely want as a UFA, and with Nylander's extension and Marner's looming extension it will be easier to fit Knies in with potential for him to get even better as he matures. Leafs need defence this year more then they need an upgrade on Knies.

I guess it comes down to are you willing to sacrifice Knies for a current upgrade to win in the next two years, since Leafs would probably need to let Buchnevich walk in two years unless they let Marner walk, which is not likely.

I fail to see where anyone mentions Detroit in this post, the league doesn't check in with the Stevie Y to make sure hes ok with every trade lol. No one cares what the wings might do outside of wings fans.

Duh because Detroit is one of the teams linked to Buchnevich, And Toronto doesn't have the assets to outbid us.

Again, not concerned with who Detroit is linked to, this post had nothing to do with who Detroit is linked to. Run along and bid against yourself.

Yeah well i'm stated that this offer isn't getting Pavel Buchnevich out of St Louis, When you have teams that have far ore to offer then the pathetic Leafs have.

Yes, you don't like the Leafs so they are pathetic and their players are worth less because you say so. Run along child.

Really? Just curious where you think you'll get an offer as good as this and what you expect it to be?

I think Leaf fans would lean 60/40 in favour of being against trading Knies tbh so its interesting to hear a blues fan say no.

The Blues are looking for a young top 4 Dman above all else. And since Buch is their far and away best trade chip, I feel it would be counterproductive to ship him out for a winger and a late 1st. But like I said, it's a valuable offer. I'm not sneezing at the offer.
