I personally don't like Dowd or Edmundson so I think that would be a poor trade. I know some value both more than me though.

Stauff mentioned both on his show last night as retained options....he blows lots of hot air but also I feel is the trial balloon guy for the market

I personally don't think tradeing our next 2 1st round picks is the play... And on top of that getting rid of Bourgault. tradeing a 1st for Edmonson (who is a scratch in your line-up) and Dowd which is an ok depth piece is definetely not the play imo. Edit: Giving up Bourgault and a 1st for just another depth piece is another thing that I don't think is the move. Remember that frank the tank is playing 1st/2nd line mins with fairly good players and I'm not 100% sure that he breaks the top 6 on EDM. A guy I'd look at is Alex Barbonov on the San Jose sharks. I know sometimes I overvalue him but he's still a solid player

I admittedly like Dowd, so value him....but all WSH fans and insiders saying Dowd could go for a 1st on own.....I do not like Edmondson but Stauff mentioned it on his show...figure a 3rd would be able to be paid ot entice the retention on both and take back Ryan salary....

Not sure I would make the trade, Id prefer just Dowd retained for maybe a 2nd and 4th

I'm not gonna lie a 1st for Dowd is a bit delusional. He is a 30 point player at best and hasn't played a full season since ever lol. He is solid 2 way but if he is worth a 1st I'd like Adam Henrique more. Edit: BTW his career high is 25 which was last year

Scored 25 points while playing against opposing teams top lines for the most part. And also having a great 4th line center locked up below league minimum for 1.5 years in Edmonton is massive.

No chance Edmonton can bring back a Henrique in 24-25 if they trade for him or another rental

I wouldn’t want my team to trade a 1st for Dowd if I wasn’t a Caps fan tbh, but just providing the counter argument.

I’d keep Vatrano and gladly accept less for him next deadline

No I agree with that that if we can get Dowd for like a 2nd and a 4th or smth like that I do it in a heartbeat but if the cost is a 1st I'm not so sure.
