Gregor and Timmins sure. The 3rd is too much for a player who’s overpaid

Sabres aren’t gonna want Gregor OR Timmons though
Not gonna trade Clifton unless we actually get something back that we’d want
Traded gotta work BOTH WAYS guys

ABB cleared waivers, and I'm sure you can guess why.
To put it bluntly, he f***ing sucks man. He started off hot on the top line with Point and Kucherov and then just disappeared, but it doesn't really say much about him when you could put a literal ape with a tree branch on the same line as those two and even the ape would put up an assist or two in a single game. Two months without a single point at the NHL level, contributes nothing of value outside of a top line when others drive the play, he's nothing more than a career AHLer whose time to prove it at the NHL level had long passed in Tampa. You're better off keeping Abruzzese or Steeves up as a scratch than you would be claiming him.

I would do this trade, Clifton is blah and this saves me 2.2mill to put somewhere else. Timmins and Clifton's #'s aren't that different to pay 2.2mill a year more.

Gregor is the sort of player the fans in Buffalo ooh and aah over. Bang the boards making a lot of noise hitting, while forgetting to play defense.
He has very little value IMHO.

But, You had me at 6'2" 206lb RHD Timmins.
He had decent offensive and defensive promise during his Junior career.
I seriously doubt Brad would include him in a trade.
He is too young and too big, with a decent ceiling to be trading now.

It would be impossible for me to pass on this trade, even with Gregor included.

Timmons can’t even stick on their roster though
He’s an AHL/NHL tweener so far,
which is no comparison to a Vet regular like Clifton

He hasn't played a lot because he's been sick, got some case of Severe Mono. Really looking at the Cap space and he's not a bad 6-7 for 1.1mill. Rumors that Mitts and the Sabres finally talked. Something in the Dylan Cozens range. Sabres gonna have to think about certain things.

We won’t have to worry about Cap space for a few more ears still
And bottom line for me, is that i wouldn’t wanna bring in an unproven guy to take the place of a league Vet who knows how to play the position
Especially with how young our team is & how shaky we can be in our own end

Can understand that, I would hope if a move like this was made it was because the Sabres were going after a much Better Dman than Clifton.

Great conversation, excellent differing POV's.
A lot to unpack with your strong opinions.
While Timmins is only a third pairing defenseman currently he has played well.
He has played in 82 NHL games over 6 seasons with decent offensive output for a defenseman with 3 goals and 27 pts and +6.
With both Samuelson and Power out of the line up, Granato was forced to reunite Henri and Rasmus.
Over that time they have gelled and excelled playing 148 minutes allowing only 1 goal while 4 were scored when they were on the ice, with a 59.2 SF%, .
When Mattias and Owen return, let's pair them for the obvious reasons.
Ryan Johnson will never frighten any one entering the Buffalo zone, but he makes very smart plays (he has the team lowest xGA/60 5v5 at 2.40), pair him with a more offensive minded Timmins.
Conner would be replacing the Sabres worse zGA/60 5v5 2.88 with Timmins TML team third best 2.36.
BTW, Buffalo gets a third round pick as well.

Well that is my take:
24-10
25-23
33- Timmins
shoot holes in it if you wish.

In that case, then great- I’m all for an upgrade
If we can sign Matt Roy, DeMelo, etc etc then I’m all for it
But I’m not doing a random deal like this just to help the Leafs either- F them lolololol

Good Post! If Novikov keeps progressing it also opens up using Samuelsson if need be.

Ideally, imo, we’d add a guy who’s SOLID in his own zone
Preferably even better than just “solid”
That would give us the ability to switch around the pairs when needed as well
Jokiharju has played well with Power too
And the Samuelsson-Dahlin pairing last year was the best we’ve had since Tallinder-Lydman
And if Samuelsson & Power work together, that’s great too
I also think Samuelsson’s skill set would pair perfectly with Johnson, and we’ve seen Johnson play well when moved up in the lineup as well

We really need a Matt Roy / DeMelo type though to anchor the defense- with or without Clifton still here
My dream get would be Carlo- but i doubt the Bruins trade him

It's time for Adams to get out of his Comfort zone and adjust his lineup. There's D out there, but Adams has to be willing to go and get it, he has a plethora of Assets to do it to.
