your valuation on the Toronto trade seems reasonable. But the Leafs already have a lot of good depth guys. They need a higher end dman. Toronto is the wrong team for this trade.

We wouldn't pick up Tanner Pearson off waivers. We have plenty of internal options at forward. Even discounting the currently injured Viktor Arvidsson and Carl Grundstrom, we have Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Arthur Kaliyev, Alex LaFerriere, Trevor Lewis, and Alex Turcotte available for the four bottom-6 wing positions.

I doubt that any team would give you more than a fifth for him.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but teams can only have 3 retained contracts at one time.
