Quick made 6 million dollars, Vitek 3.4 and I'd argue the perception of vitek at 28 was higher than Quick at 35. I agree not a perfect comp, but both clearly cap dumps/goalie filler sent back.

Yeah at the time didn’t all three players have higher caps hits ? And quick was expiring at the end of the year ?
There really isn’t a comparable here

Pettersson is more valuable than Gavrikov. Hes not expiring and hes younger, also just better all around. Pens decline.

Korpi 1.3 mill, Ned 1.5 mill. Both lower pedigree having a great year. Feels like as good a comp as you'll find

Gavrikov 2.8 mill, Pettersson 4 mill. Gavy cheaper cap hit, Pettersson extra year. I will admit I'd pay more for pettersson as stated in description

Vitek vs quick isn't perfect comp. Quick was 5.9 mill, Vitek 3.4. Vitek younger with bounce back potential but also an additional year of cap dump. Close imo

Oh I thought Korip was at a much higher cap hit.
I mean I agree it is a comparison. But gav and petterson really aren’t close and that’s where most of the value is this trade comes from . Plus add in that VV has an extra year as a cap dump . It makes quite a big difference

I did

Then you read where I've discussed that I'd add more for pettersson. Additionally I've had a multitude of pens fans come to an agreement of Pettersson for 1st+Bahl as being approximately fair value

I agree, this would be an absolute dream scenario for NJD.

And I'd certainly pay more

1st+2nd+Bahl+Vitek for the pair as a starting point

1st+Bahl for Pettersson
2nd+Vitek for Ned

PIT declines as fast as humanly possible. Take out Ned and Vanecek and those two picks won’t even get you Pettersson, who PIT is absolutely not trading.

As for what you claim to be a “comp”:

1. Pettersson is a better defenseman than Gavrikov. Pettersson also has another year left on his deal at a very team friendly number, while Gavrikov was a rental. Both of those factors make Petterson far more valuable than Gavrikov was at the time of that trade.

2. Quick was a rental that was able to be flipped at the very same deadline. Vanecek, who has been very bad, has another year on his contract. No team wants to be handcuffed by Vanecek’s contract next season. You would have to pay a team a solid pick just to take on this year and next year of Vanecek.

The Gavrikov / Korpisalo trade and your trade above are nowhere close to comparable.

CBJ ate 3 million dollars (based on the kane retention valued at a 3rd+) to get a 7th rounder back for Quick. So based on that math he cost a 3rd to dump at full price. Vitek dumped for a 3rd checks out, but again I have admitted they are not perfect comps.

Rentals have inflated floors. I have stated in the description, and have had agreement from a multitude of pens fans that Bahl+1st would be fair value

If the pens were to even consider it then njd would be retaining half on VV then and that still likely wouldn’t get it done

My offer for 50% retention is adding Lenni (who I value at 2nd+3rd, but ofc I'd substitute picks/other prospects equivalent to 2nd+3rd of value).

I just wanna see Pettersson-Marino together again as a pairing and on the PK

Maybe when pigs fly. I can’t stress enough that even trading for Pettersson on his own, who already has great value in his own right, would require a solid overpay. PIT has 0 reason to trade him and he is a very key piece to our roster.
