Description

I know adding a #1G in NJ has been polarizing, but I just feel like they’re too good to be missing playoffs. And if Ruff is going to keep his job (very likely the case with his new deal), Holtz could use a change rather than continuing the sheltered, 4th line role.

What would it cost to attract Pesce to ANA on a 5 year deal (assuming that’s about as long as PV would consider signing a UFA)? Am I too low at $7.5M?

LD is clogged up and Fowler hasn’t played well. Probably unlikely, but seeing how a buyout would look to make room for the young guys to get some ice time

Give Zell & Luneau another development year (maybe more for Luneau). They can step up to fill in for injuries

Definitely want Strome in the middle 6, but at full health someone gets squeezed. By TDL Vatrano will be traded (if we haven’t gotten an offer we can’t refuse this TDL/off-season), and it seems like someone in our top 9 is always injured anyways

Really? He’s currently the 4th highest paid goalie in the NHL. This brings him to ~20th. Maybe that’s a bit too much retention and $1.4M is a bit more on point, but in reality he’s overpaid based on today’s market and the retention is just to right-size that.

With the retention just being to put Gibby at market, value wise the concept is a vet #1G for a high ceiling young FWD. I don’t think the team offering the young forward should have to add a meaningful future to that personally

I mean, he's been real brutal this season. I don't know that a buyout is the way to go, but buddy needs to get his shifts cut, he looks cooked out there.

Oof I think you need a new dude, haha. I see no way we keep him beyond this contract, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they look to get out of it early one way or another (though their options to do so will be limited)

Yeah I don’t think a buyout is realistic, but he’s just looked so off this year
