Did people actually think the Avs were a cup contender? Bad 2c, tandem level goalie, shaky depth on defense. They have no cap to improve their roster at the deadline either.

Defense isn't shaky. It's the depth on offense and there defensive structure they have In there zone.

They won their division the year before with major injuries and are not too far off from doing it again with the tandem level goalie? And they won in 22 with the exact same Defense?

I guess I never thought they would be a cup contender. They don’t have a Stanley cup winning team based on the reasons I listed.

They might not have a 2nd line center but they still have toews and makar. Top elite dmen. They still have mackinnon and rantenen. Two elite players. They have nuke who was putting up season career numbers before he went to tye program. Basically they have the team to contend.

The problem is laziness and defense structure. If you look at the red wings game when they lost in OT for whatever reason mackinnon went to double team larkin. Larkin made a sweet pass to kane which buried the winner.

i mean, i agree now, and your hunch was correct. but they were one of the 5-6 teams i'd pick to start the season, regardless of my fandom.
