Yeah I don’t know anything about Grushnikov other than he’s a Decent Sized Former 2nd Round Pick

Was hoping for a C or RD Prospect instead, but add it all up and it’s not too far off from what I expected which was a 1st or 2nd + Prospect. 3rd for retention isn’t bad. Gives us 3 pieces anyways

They only get that 3rd round pick if Dallas makes the cup finals so odds are they won't even get that pick. So 2 pieces and neither is a premium asset. oh well

Yeah I see that now. Return sucks unless Grushnikov becomes any good. Conroy failed and pulled the trigger too early I think

I think your expectations for a return on Tanev were much too high. A 2nd and a lower level prospect are what most people expected for someone of Tanev's ability. Hanifin should get a much better return at least

Leafs likely don’t get Tanev, even if they do offer their 1st
So much for getting a 1st rounder for Tanev.

I didn’t say both. I said better offer that includes a Top Prospect. Flames would much rather acquire a Young Centre or Defensemen and/or a Top A/B+ Prospect than a Late 1st Round Pick = Lottery Ticket

Hanifin is the Best Defensemen available at this season’s trade deadline, but Tanev is the one in most demand, so we’ll just be patient and wait till we get the very best offer

Boom 💥 I was right. Tanev fetched a 2nd + Conroy’s Top Prospect Grushnikov + a potential 3rd and they didn’t accept TOR’s crappy 1st. Thanks for recognizing that!

Considering Conroy valued Grushnikov + DAL’s 2nd MORE than their 1st, I was right, wasn’t I!!?

The word on Grushnikov is he's less than 50% chance of being an NHL player. I honestly know nothing about him and I'm a Stars season ticket holder so doesn't sound like they had any high hopes for him. At the end of the day I think Calgary was going to get a 2nd for Tanev and they might get a 3rd as well if the Stars get to the final which they have a chance to do so not a bad deal for Calgary

Not terrible but it’ll take years to find out

I guess Conroy is super high on Grushnikov as a Swift Skating, Defensive Defender who plays like a Bulldog in his own end. Many see him as a potential Tanev 2.0 and he fits in with the Offensive Prospects we already have

Rumors are Conroy turned down a 1st, because it was tailed us taking a bad contract back, like Cody Ceci’s, Ryan Reaves or Ryan Johansson being mentioned

Conroy was most interested in a Prospect, because the Draft Pedigree is supposed to drop off dramatically after 20th Overall and it’d take years to develop that player, whereas Grushnikov was a need and already in the process. I think he was rated as DAL’s 10th or 11th Prospect and CapFriendly has him rated as a projected 80P3. He’s just not gonna put up any points
