I don't think any of these trades make the Jets a better team to be honest.
I would rather re-sign DeMelo if he's the sacrifice for Pulock. Isles are also gonna want more than a promising fringe roster player (Kups), an aging fringe roster player (Stanley), and a couple 2nd rounders for 6 years of Pulock. It would end up being a hockey trade, something like a top6 winger for Pulock with a pick/prospect to balance out value. Again, just re-sign DeMelo instead.
Jets can't afford to trade for or pay for Pettersson. Canucks would want something like the package for Tkachuk in return. That would be a top line FWD (Huberdeau), a top4 Dman (Weegar), a prospect, and a 1st rounder.
Pettersson will almost certainly sign for $10M+ too. Besides, it would be stupid to spend all those resources just to stick him on a line with a rookie in Lambert/McGroarty. Gotta have a backup guy to fill in if the rookie isn't NHL ready and this team doesn't have one.
Appleton can kill penalties while Kaliyev can't. I would be wary of trading away defensive ability, especially if you want Iafallo gone.
Personally, I disagree with sending away Iafallo and Kupari. Vilardi was very vocal about feeling like he was tossed aside for a shiny new toy in PLD (my words, but that was his sentiment). I think it would be a mistake to trade them away before getting Vilardi signed long-term. I also think Iafallo's consistent defensive play is woefully underrated. The Jets aren't a team that can afford to have defensive liabilities in their forward group.
