I'd be thrilled to get a 2nd for Mantha. Some Capital fans are shooting for the moon and want a 1st but im cool with this trade. Id also try to sign him in the offseason if im the Capitals.

yeah I have seen a couple people try and argue getting a first + for Mantha but feel like a second and a late round pick seems juts about right for what he brings to the table

i mean im very pessimistic but the GM has done very well getting value for players that arent a part of the future. basically turned Orlov into Sandin. got a 2nd for Eller and 3rd for Mojo. They have done well. Mantha might be worth keeping and extending if the offer isnt crazy. He's really boosted McM and Laps play and thats great for development. I hope you are right and we get (2) 1st round picks this deadline

I think a 2nd is fair value for Mantha and honestly the fact that he's worth anything after last season is pretty incredible.

That being said, I think it's pretty easy (and I'm sure it's what GMBM is trying to do to other teams!) to talk yourself into the fact that a big bodied top 6 winger on pace for 30 goals with a mean streak and great underlying defensive numbers could get a first, especially in what seems like it's going to be an incredibly weak market. In fact, one of those guys in Tyler Bertuzzi got a first just last deadline ...
