Why? Dumba is already a worse defender than Liljegren…

Based on what? They need a guy who can play with Rielly, like Schenn did...its a gamble but what are the other options?

Pick your metric lol. If you want to look at advanced metrics it’s not close specifically defensively, if you want to look at basic metrics it’s also Liljegren. If your contention in offensive upside then why hasn’t Dumba produced at all?

As for pairing him with Reilly, I don’t see how placing a guy like Dumba who’s had defensive issues throughout his career including his best years in Minnesota solves that RHD slot. Not to mention the fact you’re paying more for a year of him than the assumed Hanifin cost

    How about playoff giveaways?

Minutes played...reg season or playoff...total and AVG per game?

Or playoff sharts, pretty sure Liljegren leads in those?

Or how about the chance that Dumba can pair with Rielly in the playoffs?

Honestly would prefer if Peksa got added to the AZ trade and instead of the 3rd up it to a 2024 or 25 2nd.

If you want to make the argument that you can find a more reliable defenceman for the playoffs than Liljegren, that's fine, but trading Liljegren and a first for a player that has been objectively worse in every way this season makes no rational sense.

Now don't get me wrong, trading Liljegren should be on the table, but it has to be for the right piece and Dumba is from from it.

I added Peksa to the AZ trade if needed…for the picks sure it’s something like that…idea is Arizona get a 1st now and Leafs get 2 next year where they are really short

A 2cd and 3rd came back, not sure if you saw that…so you could argue that nullifies the first…the Leafs can save those 2 picks for this time next year.
