It’s gonna suck when they do this and find a way to disappoint us in the playoffs. We have learned nothing from prior years if we do this. At least trade for someone 23-27 instead of late 20’s and early 30’s if we are gonna move younger pieces. And then when we don’t win and attempt a mini rebuild, we’ll question where we went wrong all over again like we did last decade.

What team has a 23-27 year old that they're willing to trade? Who also happens to come with an extra year on his contract...

Never said it’d be easy, but that’s the kind of move that needs to be made.

Youre not going to find one, especially one that will help us right now that a GM would be willing to part with peacefully. For example, this kid Tolvanen on the Kraken would be an awesome pickup for us. However theres no way Ron Francis trades him for Kakko. Would you trade Kakko for Sprong? Or Kakko for Evangelista?

Unfortunately for you and many other Rangers fans, you cant use Kakko's age and draft position as leverage in a trade. Kakko has done nothing of any significance in 5 years. Rangers have a 2-3 year window to get something done. To continue to be delusional about the realistic value of Kakko is only going to hurt the Rangers. I would prefer not to trade him, but this team is real damn close.

Then if he isn’t worth anything in a trade you keep him as a 3RW instead of creating another hole by moving him. Despite the lack of offensive production he is defensively good enough to be on the 3rd line, no point in trading him when you likely just get someone older doing the exact same thing. They need to move picks and a prospect or two to make that big swing.

agreed 100 %, he's got more value for us so no need to trade him and make the same mistake this team has been making for the past 50 years which is trading undervalued young forwards for overvalued veterans.
