I don’t disagree with the cost metrics here, but I don’t think the team should be trading their 2025 or 2026 first round pick right now especially for the likes of Jake Middleton. I’m OK with the Pittsburgh deal if they can’t get better, but I’d rather just sign DeBrusk and maybe pick up a one year flyer like Duclair

My thought is you get Middelton with retention (another year on the contract, hopefully can reup if he fits well).. Losing the 1st sucks but if it can sure up the D for this year and beyond, I think it would make sense.

I feel like 1st’s can only go to getting a real centre or good forward. We have Charlie, lindholm and Carlo, I agree we need a bottom pair upgrade but we need someone worth a 3rd.
