The man isn’t even an upgrade over Ceci, and barely an upgrade over Desharnais, if even that. With that being said, that’s WAY too much imo. A 4th is more like it, maybe a 3rd with the extra year, but Edmonton certainly wouldn’t be the team to pay it.

I think Kovecevic has got really good upside, a really good salary for 2 yrs.

A cheap contract would be great, but imo, he isn’t and never will be a top 4 defence man. Paying a premium for a third pair guy that probably wouldn’t even make the opening night lineup doesn’t make any sense to me. Personally, I would rather take that 2nd and go for someone more proven, like Carrier for example.

Carrier is an attractive target, but he's small and brings alot of what they already have. Kovecevic is BIG
and has alot of what they already have!
He'd be worth the price after looking at this year's draft.

Small, with speed and is a good defender who could play with Nurse. Kovecevic is a 3rd pairing defence man, which we have, in Desharnais. I don’t see the fit personally, as there are plenty better options out there. It was nice talking to you about it. Have a good one!

Kovacevic and Ceci are close enough, assuming Kovacevic is ready for more minutes. I personally feel he is, especially if he gets the same deployment (he's 40/60 or worse in Montreal, compared to Ceci's 50/50).
The big differences are size, experience, age, and cap hit.

You can't fix everything, but if losing Ceci and adding Kovacevic allows you to fit another vet 6/7 RHD and a winger for the 2nd line, it might be worth considering.

Might be too much of a risk this close to the deadline, but even if adding Kovacevic is a depth move, you could see what he has to offer and keep Ceci as well, then make a permanent choice in the off-season.
Kulak is similar to Harris and Harris-Kovacevic have worked well together.
