Why do we want Ullmark? Could probably get better for Hanifin in Boston, like Lohrei or maybe even Poitra.

Ullmark isn’t going to want Calgary and likely rejects a deal.

The basic premise would be Ullmark to Jersey, Holtz to Calgary, and Hanifin to Boston.

Boston likely would have to add something, but Lysell at that point isn’t a target and I don’t see Boston adding Lohrei unless they get something back (add a 2026 2nd / Oskar Jelvik and get back Etienne Morin?)

Vladar is a negative value asset IMO. I’d rather have Forbort than him because atleast Forbort’s contract ends this year. Vladar is overpaid for another year.

Morin? The guy we just drafted last year. No way he gets traded, him and Bruztevwitz are untouchable rn in the retool.

There is a value gap, IMO, in the current deal.

Not because Hanifin isn’t worth it, but more because there are only a few teams likely willing to pay more than rental rates for him. All the deals I see from Calgary fans disregard that point.

My hope is you trade him to a rental rate team. Then it will be a recruitment with TB offering tax benefits, but having to piss on a team leader to sign him and Boston who can offer more money.

Lohrei is better than the player options that TB is likely willing to give when I consider the hole created by losing Hanifin and the immediate need coupled with your current prospect depth chart. I’d be asking for something. Maybe it’s I keep my second/Jelvik and you give me the defenseman you just got from Dallas instead of Morin.

My perspective is there is zero need to give Lohrei and a first together without getting something of value back. The worst case that happens is he signs in TB and creates other options in FA while significantly hurting TB’s offense and showing every player on the TB roster that loyalty means nothing. Completely OK with that
