I wouldn't if I were Carolina either, I'm just saying from a strictly balance sheet perspective, retaining that money makes zero sense for a middle round return. The return has to be bumped up more to justify that money retention to ownership alone much less to front office retention slots that Pittsburgh already has one dedicated to long term with Petry. Very real possibility they want all those retention slots next year if they're selling as well. Makes no sense to retain for smith.
