Would you consider trading Montembeau for the right return

Description
Hitting the TDL, there are 2-3 teams who really need a starting goaltender. Now I like Montembeau, he's impressed me a lot, but with his current contract and extended contract in place, he is incredibly attractive as trade bait.

Here's why I would consider it:

1) If we trade him and ride Allen/Primeau until the end of the season, we will lose a lot more games. That's actually not a bad thing, as we will get a higher draft pick

2) We could probably get a mid-late 1st and a B prospect for Monty, or maybe just an A prospect

3) Allen and Primeau as a tandem next year is not gonna help us win a lot of games, but we can always dip into the goalie market this offseason if we feel we are playoff-bound after the draft

4) If we are not gonna make the playoffs next year, this would probably be "selling high" on Monty, as we can expect Fowler to hit the NHL in 2025-26

What would it take for you to consider it?

So essentially if he helps you make the playoffs, we get this year's pick, otherwise we get next year's?

I would rather just have 2025 top 3 protected... 2024 bottom 16 is low quality compared to other years.

More than fair. I’d put the 2025 pick up easier.

2025 top 3 protected 1st for Montembault.

What would it take for Jake Evans?

I want to be clear that I WOULD do it, but I doubt the Habs organization would agree with me.

Evans could be had fairly cheaply IMO. I think a younger forward with a history of success in the AHL, some NHL upside, and a few years of team control, so we can call up a forward from Laval and not risk the playoff run.

Graeme Clarke is a near PPG AHLer 22 year old who I'd offer for Evans. Also I'd recommend putting a 1st instead of Holtz in (he's incredibly underrated on here).

At least 2 of you guys stole 6 minutes from my day and I want it back.

Monty would be moved for the right piece. Is Holtz it? Probably not.

Morale is important for young players development and having a guy in the net that has the team’s confidence is huge for morale. To trade Monty would hurt this rebuild almost as much as anything else, that’s why I don’t think we can put a price on him because his value to his current team way out values his value in any trade.
