I have a hard time seeing the Caps retaining for this year and the next two on Jensen. I'd say that's likely the only hurdle on Washington's end.

0 points in 26 playoff games is not appealing but he's heavier and plays a more solid game defensively. Also, 2 million for 3 years is a good deal, he'd be like another McCabe. And Liljegren is due for a raise and I don't think the Leafs should pay him.

Like the trade but hard to believe Treliving will go back to Washington again after already making a deal

Maybe some goodwill has been built up and that's going to make it easier. Also, reuniting Sandin with Liljegren could be an attractive option for the Caps.

50% retention for long term, and having to take Kampf? I think the Caps say no to that.
- The 1st rounder wont be top 10
- The defenseman swap is sort of net-net
- Basically you're trading Dowd (the best 4C in the league and a total great team guy) for a 1st and a 5th then adding negatively value with eating 50% of Jensen (for term) and Kampf...

Dowd for a 1st....GMBM would do that...and prob only that.

Maybe Caps management really like Liljegren and see him as a fit alongside Sandin long-term. He has value in this deal.
