It's because Dufour is from Quebec, which clearly eliminates being a 5th rd pick and not even putting up a .50ppg in the A this year.

IMO I think MTL has plenty of players that can fit the role he would eventually provide. Plus, you're moving Savard who would only be traded for a premium, or nothing at all (from what I've read). If the Habs aren't getting a good draft pick, then they'd target an A-/B+ prospect at the very least. Maybe if a 2nd and 3rd pick were included in this, but even that may not be worth it to Hughes, or the trading team.
