Teams can’t trade to reacquire a player they dealt within a calendar year.

the fact that you think a top-6 Dman + a 4th is not worth a former 2nd rounder who's had an OK DY+1 in the Q is funny, you double buff

If the Leafs and Habs made a handshake deal around that, it would be considered collusion and would be blocked by the league.

think you're wrong btw, you can require a player you recently traded if there is no salary retention.

What am I wrong about? That’s literally collusion. You are talking about cap circumvention, they are two different rules.

It’s similar wording for two different rules. You can’t trade for a player you traded away within the same calendar year, and you can’t make two traded for the same player with salary retention in one year. One rule deals with collusion, the other deals with cap circumvention.
