Karlsson

Created by: Lancebmx
Team: 2024-25 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 29, 2024
Published: Mar. 29, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Saw a trade earlier involving William Karlsson and just thought I would try and see how I could make it work. The cap is super tight and only way it's possible is if Seider and Raymond both take bridge deals and Kane and Roy are okay with signing for those dollar amounts.

Gonna have to pass on having to turn around and pay all of Seider/Raymond/Edvinsson within a year of each other.

It does line up with a whole bunch of money coming off the books

I don't dislike karlsson it's just he's more of the same we've been trotting out at 2c for the last two seasons.

Edvinsson is in year one of his ELC, He still has two years left on his ELC. By the time his RFA years come up. The salary cap will be near $100,000,000 and growing. So it shouldn't be an issue.

I don’t see a problem with it. I think Lance did a good job with it.

When Edvinsson’s deal is done, you would have Kane, Chiarot, and Walman’s deals done at the same time, so that’s 13.6M from them. A year later, when Seider, and Raymond need new deals, you would have Karlsson, Copp, and DeBrincat’s deals off the books too, so that’s also 19.4M. In this, you would have 4 guys with 4+ years, with that being Rasmussen at 3.2M, Roy at 5.8M, Larkin at 8.7M, and Compher at 5.1M. That’s a total of 22.8M being used.

You would have more than enough imo.

That would mean we have $16.625M worth of players that are somewhere between 2C and 3C.

Is Carrier better than Fischer?

Is Noesen better than Perron?

I know they are probably a bit less expensive but if you take Karlsson out of the picture you'll have more money to sign Fischer and Perron and it will be less congested down the middle for Kasper and Danielson to see more TOI.

Two years of Ed + 3 years of Seider/Raymond = All three needing new contracts within a year of each other...

Raymond might get 3 years, I seriously doubt Seider will. From what's being reported is that Seider more than likely comes in around the Larkin deal.

Haven't seen any reports saying that, though it'd be nice. I expect at 8 years, the absolute best case scenario is they convince him to match Larkin.

I don't mind them making a move at center but not another blah guy like the last two off seasons. Yzerman is such a bargain shopper as it is so I don't expect anything radical to happen.

As pointed out in other responses, alot of money if the books and I planned it that way.

Also, for the record, I want Seider and Raymond to sign long term extensions. This is just messing around with other ideas. Trying to improve the team for the short term to push for playoffs.

Oh I agree. A bit more offense with him though. Still good two way play. This type of move is only to improve in the short term of that's the direction they want to go. I personally would rather just see them sign Roy/Pesce and sign Raymond and Seider long term.

Carrier and noesen, little more physical. Slightly better defensive players I think. Just changing it up really, could be any similar players.

Yeah but that assist on Fabbri's goal against FLA was beautiful and he makes a couple passes like that a game.

I'm not watching the game. No issue with keeping Fischer. 👍

I'm cool with keeping Fischer. He shows up every now and then on the score sheet, plays hard. Most games you don't notice him, but for a 4th liner that's good. Means he's not ****ing up defensively.

Means either Fabbri or Perron has gotta go, though.

I'm okay with both. Would keep Perron if he signs cheap.

Feel like Perron's probably gonna have to come reeealll cheap if he wants to stay.

But in my ideal world Kane re-signs and we get Seider/Raymond on 8 year deals, lol.

I agree. I make teams with bridging those two but I would prefer to sign them long term and hopefully they both turn into value contracts in a few years. I just hope that we can sign one of Roy or Pesce this offseason. Roy makes the most sense.
