This is so scary

A team that needed right shot forwards just landed a top 50 prospect with a top 3 and top 15 pick this draft, too. Imagine Yakemchuk instead of Iginla, too. Wow

Would be very down for Yakemchuk. Iginla's the safer pick but I'm fine with a little risk, especially at SJ's most critical area of need.

Would be truly something special if they get #1 Celebrini #11/12 Iginla and then in the late 20s/early 30s get dman Alfons Freij, who's arguably the most under-the-radar prospect in the draft.

Do you really think it’s the best idea to sign a 30 year old for 7 years at 14.5M a season?

Also, Ferraro is still on our top pair? I’m sorry but I don’t think Ferraro will ever be a good top pairing defenseman.

Draisaitl is a top-5 player in the league, I think it's a safe bet that at least the first 5 of those years will be more than fine. I think this particular signing depends on the Marner situation too with the Leafs, as well as Smith's projection as a RW or center since Smith to RW has started becoming a greater point of conversation recently. Either way, I think Sharks make a push for one of them as big a FA addition to the team, especially with all that cap space and the younger kids being ready by that point to receive some support to help their development.

Regarding Ferraro, you're right. Thrun I don't think will belong on the top pair either and Mukhmadullin I think rounds out as a 2nd pairing guy, and I especially don't see him getting top pairing minutes in (what should be) only his 2nd year. Ferraro at least has some experience. It's a weakness on this roster but at least paired with a guy like Pesce shouldn't be egregiously terrible.
