I don't think Kampf is a negative value contract at all. At worst he is a neutral value. Solid defensive C. He would help support Montreals young guys quite a bit.

not sure what kampf provides the habs that they don't already have in Jake Evans

a 3rd round pick isn't enough to take on that contract when you already have the exact same player on the roster

even if that were to be the case, we aren't in a position to be spending futures on anything but young players. We've already got 4 NHL centers under contract for next year as well, there isn't a need for him

Hes a 4th liner making over 2 million with term he is very much negative value. Jake evans is just a better bersion of him and makes 700k less(essentially a full roster spot cheaper) .

People talk about the big players when it comes to the leafs cap problem but splurging 2.4 million on a guy who is on the fringe of the lineup is just as big of a problem
