I really like the idea of Duchene in DC but only on a shorter term. Especially if it’s that expensive.

I think if it’s 5 years it comes in closer to 5x5

3 year deal he could maaaaybe touch 7M

I just looked at Kadri's contract as a comparable. But since Duchene is getting old buyout money ontop of whatever he signs for, a $5 million AAV sounds about right.

Caps don't do any of that except maybe the Hanifin offer.

Dowd isn't being traded and if he is it will be for more than that. TvR is getting a 2nd if Caps are eating money. Caps will never ever trade Oshie, they love him so much, plus he's probably retiring anyways.

I appreciate what Patches has done but he hasn't earned that contract with the Caps. Caps need to get younger and use the spot wisely. Same goes for Duchene. Offering Duchene, a 33yo, a 5 year contract is very unwise. They have plenty of forwards coming in with Miro, Lenny, and Cristall.

I’d rather they give that money to debrusk. Patches is gone and shouldn’t be back unless he wants like 1 mil.

Have we been watching the same paccioretty? Doubt the caps offer 5 years to Duchene and Mcmichael prolly gets more. I like the thought.

Max just collected $4 million $$$ to average .5 ppg for half a season worth of hockey, this year.
